Some things leave a mark that doesn't show on the outside. You keep functioning, keep showing up, keep holding it together for everyone who depends on you. But your body braces. Certain moments pull you back. Rest doesn't quite reach the places that are tired.

Trauma-informed therapy is a space built around one truth: what happened to you was real, it wasn't your fault, and healing is possible on your terms.

Trauma isn't one thing

Trauma comes in many forms, and all of them are valid. At Cultivate Your Essence, our trauma-informed care supports women and professionals navigating:

• Corporate & workplace trauma — burnout, toxic environments, discrimination, and the weight of being the only one in the room

• Sexual assault and abuse — recent or long past, disclosed or never spoken

• Harm from abusive or controlling relationships — with the depth of a practice founded by a Certified Domestic Violence Professional

• Life-threatening events — accidents, violence, medical crises, and their aftermath

• Other distressing (non-life-threatening) experiences — loss, betrayal, chronic stress, and events others may minimize

• Vicarious & secondary trauma — for helpers, first responders, clinicians, and caregivers who absorb others' pain

• PTSD and complex trauma — including symptoms that have built up over years

What "trauma-informed" actually means

It means your safety and your sense of control come first, always. We don't push you to relive every detail or move faster than your nervous system can handle. Instead, we build stability, help you understand how your past is shaping your present, and gently work through what's ready to be processed. You lead. We walk alongside you.

Our founder is a corporate wellness strategist as well as a licensed clinician, so we understand vicarious trauma and high-pressure environments from the inside. You're allowed to be the one who gets supported for a change.

Our approach

Cultivate Your Essence was founded by a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and Certified Domestic Violence Professional. Our care is trauma-informed, culturally grounded, and centered on your safety, dignity, and pace. Depending on your needs, your therapist may draw from approaches like Internal Family Systems (IFS), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness, psychodynamic and narrative work, and feminist theory — always with your consent.

Trauma-informed therapy across Illinois & Georgia

We provide secure, confidential telehealth trauma therapy to women and professionals throughout Illinois and Georgia, including Chicago, Atlanta, and surrounding areas. In-person support is available at our Chicago office when needed. You can begin from wherever you feel safest.
