Anxiety Therapy

You look like you have it all together. You show up, you deliver, you hold it down for everyone who leans on you. But underneath the competence is a mind that rarely turns off, a chest that stays tight, and a running list of everything that could go wrong.

If your anxiety hides behind being the strong one, the high-achiever, the woman who keeps it all together, you are exactly who this space is for.

You're not overreacting, and you're not alone

So many of the women we work with have been told to pray it away, push through, or be grateful because someone always has it worse. So you learned to perform calm while your nervous system stayed on high alert. That's not weakness. That's a body that has been carrying a lot, for a long time, without enough support.

Anxiety can show up as racing thoughts, trouble sleeping, irritability, over-preparing, people-pleasing, or a constant sense that you're behind. For Black women and girls especially, it often gets layered with the pressure to be excellent, unbothered, and self-sufficient. Naming it out loud is the first step toward putting it down.

How anxiety therapy helps

In therapy, you get a space that is fully yours, where you don't have to translate, minimize, or explain the cultural weight you carry. Together with your therapist, you'll:

• Understand what's actually driving your anxiety, not just manage the symptoms

• Learn practical tools to calm your body in the moment and interrupt spirals

• Set boundaries without guilt and stop over-functioning for everyone else

• Untangle the beliefs about worth and perfection that keep you on edge

• Build a version of rest and self-trust that your nervous system can actually feel

Our approach

At Cultivate Your Essence, our work is relational, culturally responsive, and grounded in you as a whole person, not a diagnosis. Your therapist may draw from a blend of approaches — including CBT, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), mindfulness, motivational interviewing, and client-centered care — always tailored to you. This is a hand-held, judgment-free process built on trust and real talk.

"But I'm not sure therapy is for me..."

Maybe you've tried therapy before and didn't feel seen. Maybe you're worried about the time, the cost, or whether it even works. Those concerns are valid. We'll start with a free consultation so you can feel out the fit before committing to anything, and we'll match you with the therapist most likely to connect with you. There's no pressure and no perfect starting point required.
